Hun Sen Set to Participate in Boao Forum in China

Phnom Penh, March 26, 2024: Hun Sen, President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, will head a high-ranking delegation to the annual Boao Forum in Hainan province, China, from March 27 to 29. The visit comes at the invitation of Li Baodong, Secretary General of the Boao Forum for Asia, according to a recent announcement from the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The ministry's press release, issued this evening, highlighted Hun Sen's scheduled speech at the conference's opening. This year, the forum will explore the theme "Asia and the World: Common Challenges, Shared Responsibilities," focusing on fostering international cooperation and addressing major development issues.

The Boao Forum annually gathers leaders from government, business, academia, as well as international and regional organizations to deliberate on pressing global and regional development matters.

In addition to his participation in the forum, Hun Sen is expected to engage in discussions with senior Chinese officials, including Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, General He Weidong, Member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Political Bureau and Second Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and Feng Fei, Secretary of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China.

One of the highlights of Hun Sen's visit includes tours of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and Wenchang International Aerospace City. These visits underscore the ambition to enhance Cambodia-China cooperation in agricultural development and technology sectors.

Joining Hun Sen on this pivotal trip will be Prak Sokhonn, Member of the Supreme Privy Council, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, and Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, along with key government officials and leaders from the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.
